Frequently Asked Questions
We've summarised the most frequently asked questions about our demo program below. They cover everything from the process of booking out the demo bike through to what you should bring. Have a question not covered in the FAQs? Get in touch with your local store and they will give you all the information you need.

What is the Giant Demo Bike Program?

The Giant demo program takes some of our favourite Giant and Liv models and makes them available for anyone to ride. Best of all, the program is managed through our network of Giant dealers, making bikes available nationwide at a time, and location, convenient for you.

Why should I consider booking a demo bike?

If you want to test a bike you are considering buying, then a demo bike booking is an excellent way to get all your questions answered before you take the plunge. Similarly, if you are a road cyclist who wants to try mountain biking for the first time (or vice versa) - a demo bike booking might just open up a whole new world. Regardless of your reason, you will love it!

Booking an in-store demo bike (Aus only)

Can anyone book a demo bike?

Anyone who is over 18 and holds a current Australian driver's license (or other, acceptable photo ID) can book a Giant or Liv demo bike.

What kinds of Giant and Liv bikes can I book?

Each year, we make a selection of Giant and Liv bike models available for you to take out and demo. This includes both on-road and off-road models, at different price points and with different component specifications. If you need help in determining the right bike for you, please contact your local Giant dealer. Availability will depend on each store so check with your local participating Giant dealer should you have any questions.

How do I book a demo bike?

To book a demo bike, please contact your local store to enquire which models/sizes they have available. From there you can book your demo directly with the store..

How do I collect my demo bike?

Once your booking is finalised, your local Giant store will make sure your bike is in-store, cleaned and tuned for your allotted pickup time. When you arrive at the store, you will need to fill out some paperwork and be fitted for your bike (so it fits you like a glove) - therefore, please allow a little extra time. If you have any questions, this would be a great time to ask the friendly Giant store staff. From there, you are free to take the bike and get riding. If you drove to the store, make sure you have enough room in the back (or have suitable roof racks/bike racks installed).

What do I need to bring in order to collect my demo bike?

You will need to bring valid photo ID (Australian driver's license, passport or similar). If you are supplying your own pedals (see below) it would be handy if you brought those in as well so they can be fitted. If you are riding the bike out of the store, you will also need to bring an Australian standards-approved helmet and any riding gear you may need.

Your Giant demo bike

Is there anything I need to do before I go riding?

You should always quickly check over the bike and make sure it is ready to ride. This includes checking the brakes and, if you have removed the wheels for transport, that the wheels are properly seated in the drop-outs with the skewers done up tight. If you have any questions about your demo bike, please contact the Giant dealer you picked your demo bike up from.

Giant Demo Days

What bikes will be available to ride at the demo days?

Please visit your local demo event page for a list of bikes available to try at each event. Please be aware that for our upcoming Australian Demo Days only our 2019 e-bikes will be available to ride. If you’re interested in riding other bikes in our Giant or Liv range, please speak to your local Giant dealer to see if they have in-store demo bikes available for you to try.

Do I need to make a booking?

We strongly recommend that if you plan on attending one of our Demo Days that you make an online booking. If you haven’t made a booking prior we can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to test ride a bike and we’d hate for you to miss out!

What if I can’t attend and need to cancel my booking?

We’re sorry to hear that but if for any reason you’re unable to attend our demo day please respond to the email address your original booking came from telling us so we can make the model available again.

What do I need to bring?

Please ensure you bring with you a valid driver’s license or other Photo ID, an Australian standards approved helmet (or NZ approved if in New Zealand), your own pedals if not Shimano MTB or flat pedals, water bottle, riding gear, mobile phone in case of emergency and any other cycling gear you would take out on a mountain bike ride.

What size bicycle do I need?

If you’re unsure of your required size use our handy size calculator that’s part of the booking form. We’ll do our best to provide you with a correctly sized bicycle but unfortunately we can’t carry every model in every size so please book early to avoid any potential disappointment.

What happens on the day?

On the day our friendly staff will check your booking or book you in, you’ll then be allocated a staff member who will allocate you a bicycle and setup your saddle height and suspension pressure. If you have any questions regarding the bicycle you’re about to ride they’ll be happy to help you. Please let a member of our team know once you’ve returned so they can check off your bike.

How long do I have to ride the demo bike?

We allocate hourly time slots at all of our Demo Days e.g. 9am – 10am. Please bring the demo bike back a few minutes prior to the end of the session so we can quickly check it over and make sure it’s ready for the next booking.

What if I’m not familiar with the trails?

Please ensure you’re familiar with the trail network before heading out on a ride at our Demo Days. If you’re not sure where to go please ask a friendly member of staff who’ll be able to point you in the right direction. We never close the local trails for our Demo Days so feel free to bring along a friend or two to help lead the way!

What if the demo day is cancelled?

We never like to cancel an event but if circumstances outside of our control such as extreme weather require us to cancel our Demo Day you will be notified by text message prior to your booking. Noticeboards will also be placed at the Demo Day location informing riders of any cancellations.

I really loved test riding the bike, how do I purchase one?

That’s fantastic! Our range can be purchased from any one of our authorised Giant dealers around Australia & New Zealand. If you’re unsure of your local store please visit the store locator on our website here.
